About Stichting BKR

Stichting BKR strives for a financially healthy world. Our mission is a societal one: we objectively contribute to responsible credit granting and we want to prevent debts from becoming problems. Stichting BKR has no profit motive. In the Central Credit Information System (CKI), affiliated organizations register data on closed loans and payment arrears on loans. Only payment arrears on mortgages are registered. Affiliated organizations such as banks, mortgage lenders, and credit card organizations consult the data in the CKI to be able to grant credit responsibly. Consumers can view their own data at Stichting BKR (online). Stichting BKR currently manages the credit data of more than 12 million consumers. Around 96% of them meet their payment obligations. In addition to the CKI, Stichting BKR also manages other databases with privacy-sensitive information from the secure data center. This information supports affiliated organizations in combating misuse and (identity) fraud in financial transactions. Stichting BKR is also active in various societal projects in the field of early detection and debt counseling. For example, we are working with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, municipalities, and private parties on a 'Vindplaats van Schulden' (Place to Find Debts). A collaboration to reach people at an early stage who want help in resolving problematic debts. Stichting BKR was founded in 1965 and is based in Tiel. Approximately 250 organizations are affiliated with us. With 120 motivated employees, we work towards a financially healthy world.
