Stadtwerke Bochum Gruppe

About Stadtwerke Bochum Gruppe

For more than 170 years, Stadtwerke Bochum has been supplying Bochum's citizens with electricity, gas, water, and district heating. In 1856, the municipal utility company brought light to Bochum's streets with the first gas lamp. Today, the Bochum-based company reliably supplies around 200,000 Bochum households with energy and water and offers its customers attractive energy services. In addition, Stadtwerke Bochum generates, stores, and supplies electricity and natural gas throughout Germany and is the first point of contact locally for all questions concerning energy. Environmental protection and renewable energy generation are firm maxims of entrepreneurial action for the Bochum-based medium-sized company. With the goal of making ecology economically viable, Stadtwerke Bochum uses sun, wind, water, landfill gas, and geothermal energy for renewable energy generation where they can be used efficiently and in harmony with nature. More than 700 employees and 46 trainees help to achieve these ambitious goals. Stadtwerke Bochum is actively involved in the energy transition and is consistently expanding the share of renewable electricity generation in Bochum and nationwide. At the same time, the traditional Bochum company stands by its responsibility for Bochum, supports numerous projects out of conviction, and transfers profits to the city. As part of its sponsoring commitment, Stadtwerke Bochum supports top-level sports in the city as well as citizen and future projects in the areas of sport, culture, education, and social affairs.
