We're an independent Co-op, serving communities across the south of England. We operate convenience food stores, funeral homes, crematoria, natural burial grounds and a Starbucks coffee franchise. Member-owned and community-focused As a member-owned organisation, we're dedicated to working together for the benefit of our communities. With over 4,500 colleagues, our purpose is to create positive impact and support the communities we serve. Our history Founded in Portsmouth, Hampshire in 1873, our Co-op emerged in response to the exploitation, inequality, and life-threatening poverty of the time. Our vision was clear: to build a business that empowers people and addresses the needs of everyone, not just a few wealthy shareholders. Continuing our mission Today, we continue to confront societal challenges, including modern forms of inequality and environmental issues like climate change. Our commitment remains steadfast: to help people help themselves and to foster a better future for all.
