About SIAAP

A unique public company in Europe. Its area of intervention covers four departments and 180 municipalities spread across four other departments. SIAAP is: - the only interdepartmental water sanitation union in Europe; - the leading public company on the scale of the first European metropolis by population density. SIAAP transports in its underground network and "washes" the water used by nearly 9 million Parisians for their domestic and industrial uses – as well as rainwater. Once treated in SIAAP's 6 plants, the water is discharged into the Seine and Marne. Covering a territory of 1,980 km2, SIAAP treats nearly 2.5 million m3 of wastewater every day in dry weather. This volume can increase sharply during heavy rains, when water runs off the ground and flows into the sanitation network. Good management of this water requires cutting-edge expertise and appropriate forecasting and treatment methods. SIAAP takes concrete action for the protection of the natural environment, the sustainable development of the territory, and for biodiversity.
