Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices was founded in 1998. It began with a small group of 3 children. At the time, most autistic children were not provided with care plans and goals to achieve. Rather, they were placed in a day care that provided basic necessities. Understanding that children with autism can achieve more, Dr. Joshua Weinstein pioneered his vision that helped transform the autism landscape of NYC's education system. Today, Shema Kolainu's community-based educational and therapeutic network serves over 1,000 children. As always, Shema Kolainu is in the forefront of autism education and is constantly looking for ways to create a better future for these children. In 2004, Dr. Weinstein founded iCare4Autism to serve as the catalyst that drives collaborations among similar international institutions to discover the etiology of autism, search for biologic and environmental causes, and ultimately work toward better methods of detection and treatment. iCare4Autism is another way to bring hope to children with autism and their parents.
