About Sesc Tocantins

The action of Sesc - Social Service of Commerce - is the result of a solid cultural and educational project that, since its creation by businessmen of commerce and services in 1946, has brought the mark of innovation and social transformation. Over the years, Sesc has innovated by introducing new models of cultural action and underlined, in the 1980s, education as a prerequisite for social transformation. The realization of this purpose was achieved through intense activity in the field of culture and its different manifestations, aimed at all audiences, across different age groups and social strata. This means not only offering a wide variety of events, but effectively contributing to more lasting and meaningful experiences. In Tocantins, Sesc has been active since 1996, as a Regional Delegation, becoming a Regional Department in 1998. Sesc Tocantins has a network of 17 units distributed throughout the state. More than 500,000 services are provided monthly in these units, in addition to programs developed in the areas of Education, Health, Culture, Leisure, Tourism, Sports, and Assistance, all aimed at improving the quality of life of our audience. Sesc thus develops an informal and permanent educational action aimed at valuing people by stimulating personal autonomy, interaction, and contact with diverse expressions and ways of thinking, acting, and feeling.
