The history of SEARS begins in 1886 when a 22-year-old young man named Richard Sears, an employee at the Nort Redwood, Minnesota Train Station, received a shipment of watches for a local jeweler. The jeweler refused to accept the order, and Richard Sears, instead of returning it as anyone without business vision would have done, bought it and sold each watch, making a small profit. Encouraged by this success, Sears decided to leave his job at the Train Station and start a mail-order watch business. Thus began our success story in the working world. The first retail store was later opened in Chicago. In the following years, it continued to grow, and in the 1940s, it consolidated as an international company by starting operations in Mexico, Canada, and Puerto Rico. On February 27, 1947, Sears opened its first store in Mexico City (79-101), on Insurgentes Avenue, capturing customers' attention with its slogan: “Complete satisfaction or your money back” On April 28, 1997, Grupo CARSO purchased 85% of the shares in Mexico. This new phase contributed to the sustained development of the Company, thus bringing a new work philosophy. Today, we are 100% Sears Mexico.
