schauinsland-reisen is a medium-sized, group-independent tour operator. The family company is the third largest German flight tour operator and among the top ten largest tour operators in Europe. With an annual turnover of 2.9 billion euros, a total of 2.05 million guests booked their holidays through schauinsland-reisen in the 2024/25 tourism year. Main destinations include the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria, the Caribbean, and other long-haul destinations in Asia and the Orient. Gerald Kassner has led the company since 1997, already in the third generation. His son Steffen Kassner joined the management in 2024, leading the company into the fourth generation. As of January 2026, the management team will be expanded by long-standing internal executives Markus Förster (CCO) and Detlef Schroer (CSO). Founded in 1918, schauinsland-reisen was initially operated as a transport and later as a bus company. More than 60 years ago, the company entered the flight tourism sector, making it one of the most experienced providers of package tours. In addition to the tour operator, the schauinsland-reisen group includes its own hotels and travel agencies. The company also holds majority stakes in the airlines Sundair and FlyAir41, as well as the long-haul specialist Explorer. The company headquarters have been in Duisburg since its founding, and since 2006 at the modern inner harbor with more than 700 employees. The entire corporate group, including its own hotels and travel agencies, has around 1,800 employees worldwide.
