About SCB

SCB's primary task is to provide users and customers with statistics for decision-making, debate, and research. We do this mainly on behalf of the government and various authorities. We also have customers in the private sector and among researchers. The statistical authority SCB is responsible for official statistics and other government statistics. This means that we must develop, produce, and disseminate statistics. In addition, we must coordinate the system for official statistics in Sweden. We also conduct long-term cooperation projects with statistical agencies in developing countries, financed by Sida. SCB is located in both Solna and Örebro and has approximately 1,300 employees, of whom around 35 are field interviewers. They collect data for our surveys around the country. The total annual turnover of the operation exceeds one billion kronor, half of which is a government grant. SCB is an authority under the Ministry of Finance.
