With over 60 years of history, Santa Marcelina Saúde's mission is to offer healthcare, education, and research with excellence, guided by ethical, humanitarian, and Christian values. As the primary healthcare reference in the East Zone of São Paulo, the institution contributes to the public network organization across various care levels, ensuring the population has access to care in all health categories: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. Hospital Care Founded in 1961 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Santa Marcelina, Santa Marcelina Hospital, located in Itaquera, is now one of the main high-complexity hospital references in the East Zone of São Paulo, serving over 4.5 million inhabitants. With a structure comparable to the country's best medical centers, the unit has 704 beds, 111 of which are dedicated to the Intensive Care Unit. Currently, 87% of services are offered to the Unified Health System (SUS), and 13% are for insurance and private care. Education is one of the institution's essential pillars, standing out as a major Teaching and Research Center, with 42 Medical Residency, Multiprofessional, and Specialization programs. With the mission to offer healthcare, education, and research with excellence, management is integrated with the hospital units in São Bernardo do Campo, Sapezal, and Porto Velho. Furthermore, in partnership with the State Government and the City of São Paulo, the institution manages, through Social Organizations, the hospitals of Itaim Paulista, Itaquaquecetuba, Cidade Tiradentes, and the Day Hospitals of São Miguel and Itaim Paulista. Primary Healthcare Since 1996, Primary Healthcare (APS) has been one of Santa Marcelina's main areas of operation, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of less complex conditions. Currently, the network has over 150 health services.
