The Irmandade da Santa Casa Ruy Barbosa, established on February 3, 1950, is a private civil society, characterized as a charitable, benevolent, and non-profit institution. Since its founding, it has played a crucial role in providing health services to the community, not only in the region but throughout Bahia. It founded the Hospital Regional de Ruy Barbosa in the 1950s, the only hospital unit in the municipality. More than seven decades dedicated to the care of life. In recent years, Santa Casa Ruy Barbosa has undergone a major structural change, which includes not only the modernization of its facilities but also a profound cultural and managerial transformation. This evolution has allowed the institution to improve its services and offer even higher quality care to its patients. In 2021, it incorporated the Instituto de Nefrologia Alayde Costa (INAC), expanding its service capacity and the complexity of the services offered. In 2024, broadening its horizons as a Social Organization (OS) of health, it obtained the management contract for two units in the State of Bahia: the Hospital Metropolitano, in Lauro de Freitas, and the Hospital Regional Piemonte do Paraguaçu Jadiel Almeida, in Itaberaba. This progress confirms that Santa Casa Ruy Barbosa remains committed to its mission of offering compassionate and efficient health care, continuously adapting to the needs of the community and innovations in the field of medicine.
