Founded in 1968, Sanders Lead Company, Inc. is one of the largest secondary lead smelters and lead-acid battery recyclers in the United States. Built on the vision of Mr. Wiley Sanders—who founded Wiley Sanders Trucking in 1959 and later established Sanders Lead—our company has grown into a leader in responsible recycling and lead production. Each year, we help keep approximately 13 million lead-acid batteries out of U.S. landfills. As the most recycled consumer product in the nation, lead batteries play a vital role in the circular economy. Through advanced recovery and refining processes, we produce 120,000–130,000 tons of lead annually to support essential industries nationwide.
