About Rinascente

La Rinascente is an Italian department store company operating in the sale of clothing and home products. It currently has a network of one concept store and 12 stores in the main Italian cities and a branch under the Jam brand (specializing in clothing for young people) in Milan, within the Piazza Duomo store. In the 1950s, La Rinascente sought to capitalize on the Italian economic miracle with innovative initiatives for Italy. For example, a market research office was opened and the sale of refrigerators, which arrived directly from the USA, was launched. A company for the production of women's clothing was then founded, and exhibitions of typical clothing from foreign countries were organized. In 1954, La Rinascente founded the Compasso d'Oro award to recognize objects with the best industrial design, which in 1964 was awarded to the Association for Industrial Design. In May 2011, Central Retail Corporation, a subsidiary of the Thai company Central Group of Companies, acquired 100% of La Rinascente. Tos Chirathivat, CEO of Central Retail, announced at a press conference his intention to make the La Rinascente brand known globally and recognized throughout Asia. Central Retail plans to open new La Rinascente stores in Italy and expects to reach the break-even point within eight years.
