Raiffeisen Bank is a top universal bank on the Romanian market, offering a complete range of superior quality products and services to individuals, SMEs, and large corporations, through multiple distribution channels: banking units (over 450 nationwide), ATM and EPOS networks, phone banking (Raiffeisen Direct), mobile banking (Smart Mobile), and internet banking (Raiffeisen Online). Raiffeisen Bank serves over 2 million customers, of which 100,000 are SMEs, 5,600 are corporations, and 1.9 million are individuals. Raiffeisen Bank's history in Romania began in 1994 when the Austrian Raiffeisen Banking Group opened a representative office in Bucharest. In 1997, it was transformed into the subsidiary Raiffeisenbank (Romania), offering services and products for companies. Raiffeisen Bank Romania resulted from the merger, completed in June 2002, of the two entities owned at that time by the Raiffeisen Group in Romania: Raiffeisenbank (Romania) and Banca Agricolă Raiffeisen S.A., which was established in 2001 after the Austrian group acquired the state-owned bank Banca Agricolă. In 2013, Raiffeisen Bank took over the retail portfolio of Citibank Romania.
