The origins of the Plüntsch family reach far back into the 19th century. In 1833, Gustav Ferdinand Plüntsch laid the "foundation stone." The root lies in the small Hanseatic town of Rügenwalde, Pomerania on the Baltic Sea. Around 1850, his wife, Pauline Plüntsch, who came from a family of butchers, managed to make fresh minced meat last longer by smoking and maturing it, thereby creating the recipe for our Rügenwalder Teewurst. This valuable secret was preserved and passed down through generations, even in difficult times such as flight and expulsion. Erich Plüntsch, Pauline's son, was the first to write down the processes, recipes, and other important criteria for the production of our Rügenwalder Teewurst and passed them on to his grandson, Hans-Jürgen Plüntsch, while at the same time taking his promise to continue the tradition after his father's death. Today, the company Rügenwalder Spezialitäten Plüntsch has grown into a medium-sized sausage producer in the 5th generation. It is known for a clear quality philosophy and consistent, partnership-based actions. Innovative products and packaging designs characterize the product portfolio of today's company. The Plüntsch family is committed to living humanity as a guiding principle for their actions. That is why we pay special attention in our company to working conditions where all employees feel comfortable and can develop their personal strengths. We produce at our locations with 100% green electricity and continuously expand our own energy generation through photovoltaics. At the Bad Arolsen site, we specifically reduce the use of fossil fuels by using modern heat pump technology, thereby improving our CO₂ balance.
