The largest bodywork company in Southeast Asia, headquartered in Magelang, operating within a group of over 30 companies across various business sectors. History PT. Mekar Armada Jaya was founded in 1974 by Mr. David Herman Jaya, starting from a home workshop on Jl. Prawino Kusuman No. 3, Magelang. New Armada, engaged in bodywork, occupied an area of 9000 m2 on Jl. Raya Mertoyudan, Magelang, in 1976 with 200 employees. In 1977, the land area was expanded to 2 hectares with a production capacity of 200 units/month. The New Armada brand became increasingly famous, even outside of Java. In 1980, PT. Mekar Armada Jaya began to prove itself as a bodywork company with the leading "Press Body" system in Indonesia. In 1982, PT. Mekar Armada Jaya was trusted by the government to complete election vehicles used throughout Indonesia, allowing it to develop to 400-500 units/month, including minibuses and small buses. The number of employees was increased to 1000, and supporting facilities were added with advanced machinery such as paint ovens (spray booths), presses, and spot welding machines. In 1986, PT. Mekar Armada Jaya was again entrusted to produce 1000 health center vehicles for all of Indonesia. By partnering with Authorized General Agents (ATPM), New Armada successfully increased its capacity slowly but surely, reaching a peak capacity of 1000 units/month in 1996 with an area of 20 hectares and approximately 3500 employees. Production expanded beyond minibuses and small buses to include large buses, medium buses, box trucks, dump trucks, load beds, can carriers, and more from various brands such as Mitsubishi, Hino, Toyota, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Nissan, and many other brands. In 1992, export markets were explored, reaching Brunei Darussalam, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia. In 1994, PT. Mekar Armada Jaya received trust from PT. Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motor (KTB), the Mitsubishi ATPM in Indonesia, to assemble Colt T 120 SS vehicles, now known as MOC (Mitsubishi Original Component). This received recognition from PT. KTB in 1995. In 1996, the engineering division was transformed into the Stamping & Workshop Plant division, supported by more advanced technology with CAD-CAM & CNC Milling facilities installed in early 1997. In 2002, this division became the Stamping & Tool division due to its function in creating "dies". In this development, PT. Mekar Armada Jaya received orders for die manufacturing from various national and international scale companies such as: PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) PT. Indomobil Suzuki International (ISI) PT. Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Manufacturing (MKM) PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMI) PT. Gema Kempa Daya (GKD) PT. Isuzu Intl Panca Press (IPPI) Indonesia In addition to the automotive sector, New Armada has also developed businesses in other fields such as banking, property, and others. All these business units are integrated, monitored, and consolidated by a holding company, PT. Mekar Armada Investama Management.
