To date, BTPN Syariah remains the only bank in Indonesia focused on serving productive low-income families, often referred to as 'unbankable.' Serving this segment since 2010 has been both a challenge and an opportunity. Therefore, BTPN Syariah continuously develops products and services tailored to their needs. Despite having only 25 branches across Indonesia and 41 operational functional offices, the bank employs nearly 12,000 staff who directly serve customers in approximately 70% of Indonesia's sub-districts. This direct outreach approach aims to instill four core customer behaviors: Courage to Try, Discipline, Hard Work, and Mutual Help (BDKS). This is facilitated by employees, largely high school graduates, who are specifically trained as Community Officers. As a bank that also collects funds, BTPN Syariah currently serves around 20,000 prosperous customers who deposit their funds. These depositors are served by professional personal bankers. Nearly 100% of deposited funds are channeled to productive low-income families, totaling 3.70 million active customers (with over 5.2 million total beneficiaries since 2010). The social impact on customers is measured annually, including the probability of returning to low-income status, the percentage of children attending school, and the ability to repay financing and save. This demonstrates that BTPN Syariah's financing program positively impacts the income of low-income families. The chosen survey methods and tools, such as the Poverty Probability Index (PPI) from Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), are internationally recognized, credible, and easy to implement.
