Porto Sudeste is a private port terminal dedicated to the handling of iron ore. Located on Ilha da Madeira, in Itaguaí (RJ), its strategic location represents the shortest distance between the iron ore producers of Minas Gerais and the sea. Ready to receive Capesize vessels, the undertaking is equipped with a 2.3-kilometer railway spur, a railcar dumper, two storage yards with a capacity of 2.5 million tons, as well as administrative and operational buildings. Capable of handling up to 50 million tons of iron ore per year, Porto Sudeste may have its capacity expanded to 100 million tons annually in a second phase.
