About PKP Intercity

Fast and comfortable train travel – across Poland and further, on European tracks – has been associated with PKP Intercity for over a decade. We are a company with traditions, caring for passengers' needs, reaching for the most modern solutions, initiating and supporting interesting cultural and social projects. PKP Intercity has been operating since September 1, 2001. It is the largest Polish railway operator, specializing in domestic and international long-distance transport. It enjoys the trust of passengers and the reputation of the most renowned railway carrier in the country. In 2011, the company signed an agreement with Alstom for the supply of 20 Pendolino trains. They will be able to travel at over 200 km/h. They will shorten travel to major centers such as Warsaw, Tricity, Krakow, Katowice or Wroclaw, but also to smaller cities – Gliwice, Rzeszow, Bielsko-Biala. A new category of EIC Premium connections will be created for them, ensuring the highest quality and comfort of travel at an affordable price – thanks to a dynamic ticket sales system. Investments also include modernization and purchases of new rolling stock, also with the participation of European funds. In 2008, PKP Intercity purchased 10 modern multi-system Siemens Eurosprinter locomotives, which were named "Husarz". In the following years, over a thousand wagons underwent repairs and renovations. In 2013, we signed an agreement for the purchase of 20 modern and comfortable FLIRT electric multiple units from Stadler, which will enter service at the end of 2015, and in 2014, we concluded an agreement for another 20 trains – the most modern designs by Pesa Bydgoszcz called DART.
