“Love is the only and eternal foundation of the education of our nature towards humanity.” This was said by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. For more than 175 years, we have oriented our work towards his actions and his life. The Pestalozzi Foundation was established in 1846. It all began with the personal commitment of dedicated citizens from Hanover. Their aim was to ensure care and support for children and young people who were affected by or at risk of poverty and neglect. Over many decades, this developed into today’s Pestalozzi Foundation with its diverse fields of activity. We work in child and youth welfare, operate several workshops and residential services for people with disabilities, and run special needs schools, a vocational school, a kindergarten, and an outpatient care service. For us, participation in life means supporting and accompanying people in developing perspectives and self-determined paths in life. We care for and educate children and adults alike. We protect and support children and young people in close cooperation with their families, enabling them to find their place in life. We offer people with disabilities individual workplaces and a home. Our work is inspired by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. For us as well, love – Christian charity – is an important foundation of our daily work. Loving life. Together.
