About Pan American School

Pan American – The International School of Porto Alegre is Porto Alegre's leading American-International school, serving students from Preschool (age 3) through Grade 12. As the only school in Rio Grande do Sul to offer internationally recognized diplomas alongside the Brazilian diploma, we prepare students to thrive in an increasingly connected world. Founded in 1966, Pan American is a private, non-profit, coeducational institution where academic excellence, innovation, and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. Our students learn in English through an American-style curriculum enriched by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), while High School students pursue Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the AP Capstone Diploma™, consistently achieving results well above global averages. With a close-knit community of approximately 500 students representing diverse cultures and nationalities, we provide personalized learning experiences that challenge, inspire, and empower every learner. Our graduates leave Pan American as confident, compassionate, and globally minded individuals, with the majority continuing their education at leading universities in Brazil and around the world. Pan American is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC), and is an authorized IB World School. We are also proud members of leading international educational organizations, including the Association of American Schools in the Americas (AMISA), the Association of American Schools in Brazil (AASB), the Tri-Association (Tri), and the Principals' Training Center (PTC), reflecting our commitment to continuous excellence and international collaboration. Cultivating Belonging: Inspiring Shared Impact.
