PMD was established in 2005 by all the telecom operators in Pakistan, as a centralized, neutral entity, under the framework of the Mobile Number Portability Regulations. Leveraging its position as the MNP Clearing house, connected with all cellular mobile networks in the country, PMD has expanded its portfolio and is currently providing the following additional centralized services: SIM Count Enforcement to restrict subscription to 5 Voice & 3 data SIMs per person, Centralized Do-Not-Call Register C-DNCR, National ID Number - MSISDN Pair Authentication Service CMPA - Digital KYC, Mobile Network Identification MNI service for accurate routing of messages/calls.
