About Orust Kommun

Orust is an island municipality located six miles north of Gothenburg and three miles southwest of Uddevalla. Orust itself is the largest island on the west coast. Here you will find everything from inland lakes, forests and agricultural land to what makes us unique, one of the ten most beautiful places in the world according to CNN - our archipelago. In the summer, we receive many visitors as several of Bohuslän's most popular tourist destinations such as Mollösund, Käringön, Gullholmen, Flatö and Malö are in our archipelago. Approximately 1,200 people work in our various operations within about 100 different professions. The workplaces are spread around the entire municipality, from Henån in the north, which is the central town, to Svanesund in the southeast, Varekil in the south, and Ellös in the west. And as in all municipalities, the female gender dominates. The average age among us is just over 46 years.
