About OLUWASEYI OMOTOSO

Oluwaseyi M. Omotoso, born 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria, is a multidisciplinary artist and author. An alumnus of the University of Lagos, Nigeria, where he studied marine biology, he transitioned into his passion for art after concluding his program. He gained recognition for creating luxury, bespoke artworks for prominent public figures in Nigeria and internationally. Focus and Philosophy: Oluwaseyi now channels his artistry exclusively into abstract and abstract-expressionist pieces through his series, 'The World & People Collection By Oluwaseyi Omotoso'. Each work in this collection is singularly titled after specific individuals and global locations. His vibrant, thought-provoking artistry explores the critical intersection of culture, identity, globalism, social justice, relationships, and the human experience. Technique and Medium: Omotoso works primarily in mixed media, integrating traditional painting on canvas and print with ultraviolet paints and, at times, incorporating digital and artificial intelligence elements. This innovative approach results in compositions bursting with bold colors, all consistently sized at 33 × 40 inch canvas with an exception to the Kawachi piece. He is known for crafting intricate compositions that seamlessly blend traditional Yoruba textual symbols from West Africa, the signature bubble motif "O" with modern themes and ciphers. This results in a unique visual language that profoundly honors culture and heritage while resonating with universal human experiences. The unseen reality is at the core of inspiration for him, although the better understood part of it comes from everyday life, people, environment and the inter-connections of it all. Drawn to the mysteries of existence, the unseen threads that weave our lives and world together. By sharing his art, Omotoso aims to bridge cultural gaps, spark meaningful conversations, express perspectives, and inspire a more inclusive, compassionate world.
