Officine Opus was founded in 2004 as part of a project to create multiple companies connected to OMAELBA srl, which has specialized in the maintenance of trucks, buses, trailers, and construction equipment since 1981 at various facilities in Livorno. In 2004, OPUS became a Trenitalia supplier for the Goods Group SER/002, handling current maintenance on freight wagons, and began continuous maintenance activities in the railway sector at various Trenitalia and private sites. Notably, at the Trenitalia OMV in Livorno, Opus equipped an entire department for the maintenance of railway bogies and rolling stock with its own machinery and systems. Over the years, the company has expanded its scheduled maintenance activities to various types of rolling stock and related ancillary equipment. The internal Interporto facility houses a department equipped for the maintenance of construction equipment, as well as railway and metro bogies.
