About Octant

Octant operates nine Christian primary schools, including a children's center and a special primary education school, spread across ten locations in Pijnacker, Nootdorp, Delfgauw, and Den Haag. Our main goal is to allow our approximately 2,800 students to fully develop their individual talents. We give children the space to discover and explore, so they can determine their own course in the future. We achieve this through continuous quality improvement and a focus on developing 21st-century skills. Our schools: Pijnacker: Ackerweide, Beatrix, Vlinderboom, sbo Prinsenhof, and Schatkaart Nootdorp: Kindcentrum Regenboog Delfgauw: Triangel Den Haag (Ypenburg): Fontein and Zonnestraal In today's world, computers and algorithms play an increasingly significant role. Understanding how computers work is therefore becoming ever more important. Skills such as critical thinking and creativity are also increasingly important. We therefore want to prepare students well for the future, a future where, for example, robots will do more and more of our work. That is why science & technology is an important pillar for Octant and is reflected in our education in various ways. XperiO Discovery Labs (locations Vlinderboom and Zonnestraal) In XperiO, teachers and students are introduced to new (ICT) technical materials. In addition to XperiO, a technology room has been set up. Together, the two rooms complement each other excellently to make children more proficient in thinking logically step-by-step (computational thinking) and to challenge them to produce their own created designs (maker education). The goal of XperiO is to get teachers and their classes excited about science and technology and to inspire them to do it themselves. Teachers see applications of 21st-century skills, inquiry-based and design-based learning, and what this does to their students.
