Established in 2013, the NHVR is Australia’s dedicated, independent regulator for all heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. We deliver a comprehensive range of services, with a regulatory intervention strategy focused on promoting safety for road users and the public, improving industry productivity and efficiency, and ensuring everyone complies with the law to keep all Australians safe. Headquartered in Brisbane, we employ more than 1,000 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. Our vision is to provide a safe, efficient and productive heavy vehicle industry serving the needs of Australia.
