The Ministry of Defence consists of the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Netherlands Army, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Services Centre Command, and the Defence Materiel Organisation. The Minister of Defence heads the Administrative Staff (the department). Working for peace and security Defence is active daily in the Netherlands and abroad for the interests of our country and its inhabitants. With this, now and in the future, we contribute to the prosperity and security of our country. Our global deployment strengthens international cooperation and contributes to the ambition of the Netherlands that people can develop freely and safely worldwide. Three main tasks Daily, our military personnel carry out the three main tasks of Defence: • Protection of its own and allied territory, including the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. • Promotion of international legal order and stability. • Support for civilian authorities in law enforcement, disaster relief, and humanitarian aid, both nationally and internationally.
