About Medicinrådet

Medicinrådet was established on January 1, 2017, by the Danish Regions. Medicinrådet is an independent council that prepares recommendations on which new medicines should be possible standard treatments in the country's hospitals. The council assesses whether there is a reasonable relationship between the clinical value of the medicine and the costs of treatment with the medicine. Any side effects are also included in the assessment of the medicine's clinical value. Medicinrådet also prepares treatment guidelines and medicine recommendations that inform healthcare professionals about which medical treatment is best for treating different diseases, or if some medicines are equally good. If two treatments are equally good, Medicinrådet recommends the cheapest. This is to ensure the best and most up-to-date treatment for the country's patients while maximizing health value for money.
