Makati Finance Corporation was established in 1966 by the Benitez Family. Initially, its core activities involved stock dealership, extending credit facilities, and accepting private placements. In the mid-1970s, the company was fully acquired by Amalgamated Development Corporation (ADC), an affiliated firm with a broader shareholder base. Following this acquisition, Makati Finance Corporation (MFC) dropped "Investment" from its name and shifted its focus to lending activities. MFC’s primary product lines as a credit institution included real estate financing, appliance financing, fleet car financing, and insurance services. Like many local companies, MFC faced challenges during the economic and financial crisis of the mid-1980s. To maintain a sound and stable balance sheet and avoid bankruptcy, MFC reduced its operations and concentrated on collecting receivables. In 1993, a new management team, comprising dynamic and experienced finance professionals, was appointed. Recognizing the investment opportunities presented by the economy's sustainable growth and the increasing financial needs of its clientele, MFC's new management repositioned its business activities. To foster growth and adapt to changing socio-economic conditions, MFC introduced new products and services such as direct financing, leasing, factoring of trade receivables, loan arrangement, general insurance services, Doctor’s loan, and most recently, Motorcycle Financing. Alongside operational expansion, MFC has increased its capitalization. To further strengthen the company, the stockholder base was broadened with new shareholders, and credit lines were secured from major commercial banks to enhance working funds. Importantly, MFC established subsidiaries engaged in allied activities to expand its public reach. In 2005, MFC began offering financing for motorcycle buyers. Its MC Financing loan product enables creditworthy individuals and small businesses to purchase new motorcycles on installment at competitive rates. Given the increasing popularity of motorcycles as a preferred mode of transport for low to middle-income individuals, MFC anticipates significant growth in the coming years, primarily driven by the motorcycle financing sector. MFC has been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) since 2003 and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, operating under the General Corporation Law and the Revised Financing Act. Consequently, all its policies and procedures comply with statutory requirements, and it holds reportorial responsibilities to the SEC, which oversees all finance companies. Makati Finance is staffed by professionals with extensive experience in banking, finance, and investment, gained from reputable local and international firms. Today, Makati Finance Corporation offers a compelling alternative to larger banks, providing specialized financial products and services with a personalized approach. Products include: Motorcycle Financing for fast and easy installment plans for purchasing brand new motorcycle units; RX Cashline, a personal, multi-purpose, hassle-free, non-collateral loan designed for the credit needs of practicing doctors (MD, DMD, and DVM); and Multipurpose Business Loan, offering additional working capital to meet the immediate financial needs of small and medium enterprises.
