The Hungarian State Treasury is an independent legal entity with national jurisdiction, a central budgetary institution. Since January 1, 1996, it has been performing its tasks defined in the Act on Public Finances with the involvement of 19 county directorates. The mission of the Hungarian State Treasury is: the controlled disbursement of public funds. The Treasury is the responsible body for controlling the management of appropriations during the execution of the state budget, for accounting settlements, and for data provision related to budget execution. It netly provides subsidies from the budget to local governments, multi-purpose small region associations, and healthcare institutions, and monitors their use. With the integration of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, since January 1, 2017, the Hungarian State Treasury has been acting as a paying agency for the disbursement of funds defined in the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union, as well as national agricultural and rural development subsidies. Following the merger of the National Pension Insurance Directorate General on November 1, 2017, its tasks include the operation of social security and family support systems. The treasury's state cash benefit disbursement, management, and expert administrative tasks practically cover the entire population of the country. The Hungarian State Treasury offers government bond trading and related account management services to its clients at citizen treasury offices in county seats, as well as at its branches and sales points. With an account agreement, clients also have the opportunity to use the Treasury's electronic (WebTreasury, MobileTreasury, TeleTreasury) services, with which they can manage their investment affairs quickly and conveniently from home.
