Maasstad Hospital is a large general hospital with 600 beds in Rotterdam-Zuid. Annually, 500,000 patients visit the outpatient clinics. The hospital aims to improve patients' quality of life through expert and caring service, guided by the values of reliability, expertise, connection, ambition, and patient focus. The hospital offers a wide range of medical care, covering almost every basic specialization, along with several highly specialized and unique functions for complex care. Consequently, it plays a vital role in acute care for the region, utilizing modern equipment to treat patients with complex conditions. It houses one of the three burn centers in the Netherlands, a dialysis center, an HIV/AIDS treatment center, an oncology center, a robotic expertise center, a vascular center, a bariatric center for patients with severe obesity, and a cardiac center. The hospital also features a Level III Intensive Care unit and is one of the few general hospitals providing perinatal care (medical care for mother and child before and immediately after birth) and IVF treatments. The hospital is ambitious and invests in expertise. In June 2015, Maasstad Hospital received the international JCI accreditation, signifying compliance with high standards in quality and safety of care. Additionally, in mid-2015, the hospital officially obtained STZ status, recognizing it as a top clinical training hospital.
