The Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) is a public institution, established by the law of August 7, 2012, and operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. It is organized as a multidisciplinary institute that includes, alongside an administrative department, six scientific departments, each encompassing services related to morphological & molecular pathology, genetics, medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection. The LNS aims to develop analytical and scientific expertise activities related to the prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of human diseases; to serve as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization, and promotion of laboratory technical methods, in close collaboration with domestic and international analysis laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS also develops research and teaching activities in collaboration with ad hoc partners in Luxembourg and abroad. The LNS occupies new premises in Dudelange, whose modern infrastructure is in line with the requirements related to the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences.
