The Italian League for the Fight Against Tumors - LILT - is the only public association-based body based in Rome, supervised by the Ministry of Health, organized into 106 Provincial Associations. It operates non-profit, with its primary institutional task being to spread the "culture of prevention" (primary, secondary, and tertiary) as a way of life. LILT is mainly concerned with: primary prevention (lifestyles and habits: fight against smoking and environmental and occupational carcinogenicity, correct and healthy diet, regular physical activity); secondary prevention (accelerated procedures for increasingly early diagnosis); tertiary prevention (caring for the patient, rehabilitative aspects - physical, psychological, social, and occupational - and their families); scientific research. The strengths of the Italian League for the Fight Against Tumors are represented by the approximately 400 clinics located throughout the national territory and by volunteers serving the community. The 106 LILT Provincial Associations, although autonomous bodies, pursue the aforementioned goals by operating within the framework of the directives and notices issued by the LILT Central Office.
