About Legacy Paws Rescue

Legacy Paws Rescue is a veteran-owned 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue sanctuary operating on five acres in the foothills of Catawba, North Carolina. We were built for the dogs everyone else gave up on — the abandoned, the neglected, the ones who ran out of time. In eighteen months of operation, we have rescued and rehomed 17 dogs with no staff, no board, and no grant funding. Every animal placed. Every one of them alive. We are not a standard rescue. We match animals to adopters using a behavioral assessment process designed to prevent failed placements before they happen. We maintain honest behavioral profiles — no sugarcoating, no surprises — because a placement that holds is the only placement that matters. We stay connected to our adopters long after the dog goes home. Beyond rescue, Legacy Paws is building a mission-driven product ecosystem that funds the animals in our care and extends our reach into the community: Magical Mutts — a handcrafted educational product line teaching children empathy, dog safety, and emotional literacy, with specialty kits for children fighting cancer and children in the foster care system Journaling is for the Dogs — a guided journal series addressing mental health, grief, and emotional resilience A growing sanctuary with woodland trails, a creek, a Sensory Garden, and Rainbow Bridge Island We are actively seeking board members, grant writers, corporate sponsors, and mission-aligned investors who want to help build something that does not exist anywhere else — a rescue with real systems, real impact, and a founder who has proven she will not stop. If that is you, we would like to talk.
