The Directorate of Correctional Service (KDI) has the overall professional and administrative responsibility for the correctional service. The correctional service's societal mission is to implement remand custody and sentences in a way that is reassuring to society and counteracts criminal acts. Our goal is that the convicted person, after serving their sentence, will choose to live a crime-free life. KDI is located in bright and pleasant premises in the Directorate of Correctional Service's house in Lillestrøm, and also has a location in Horten. Our vision is: Punishment that changes. Our values are: Security, openness, and innovation. Our employees are educated as, among others: prison officers, lawyers, social workers, economists or in IT (operations and development), political science, organization, communication, and management. The Directorate of Correctional Service is under the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
