Founded in 1862, Klinikum Wahrendorff today consists of an acute hospital with the departments of "Psychiatry" and "Psychosomatic Medicine," as well as several nursing homes where people with mental, physical, and intellectual disabilities of varying degrees live. Both then and now, the core idea of the company is to grant people with mental and intellectual disabilities the greatest possible freedom. More than 1,400 people work here. Doctors, psychologists, special education teachers, nurses, geriatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, sports therapists, and other professional groups accompany and support you during your treatment in our hospital. In 2015, more than 7,750 patients were treated in the acute hospital in the two full-inpatient areas Ilten and Köthenwald and our 10 day clinics in Ilten, Hannover, Celle, and Lehrte. For psychiatric and psychosomatic illnesses, we offer 254 full-inpatient and 222 partial-inpatient treatment places. The residential area is home to approximately 1050 residents. We treat the people entrusted to us with appreciation, respect, and individuality. We want to offer you – patients and residents – "as much normality as possible."
