Kiruna kommun

About Kiruna kommun

Welcome to the municipality of contrasts where grand nature, combined with a modern society, offers opportunities for personal development. Here, the light is brighter, the cold is colder, the peaks are higher, the areas are larger, and the location is more northerly than anywhere else in Sweden. A special place. We are the healthcare professionals who hold Grandma’s hand and the teacher who helps little brother read his first words. We are the childminder who helps someone grow every day and the firefighter who does what it takes to save lives. We are the personal assistant who provides freedom and the librarian who brings literature closer. We are the home care staff who drive to the villages in both blizzards and midnight sun to always be there. We are the engineer involved in moving a city. We are hundreds of competencies, thousands of people, and generations of experience who together secure, care for, inspire, teach, save lives, think anew, move a city, and take care of people. With pride and care. From mountains and rivers, to villages and cities. Today and tomorrow for a living Kiruna. We help and support each other through thick and thin, through challenges and change. This builds a "We" that feels special to many, a community that exists with the entire municipality. It is precisely this community that we want you to become a part of. It is precisely this culture that we want you to help shape. Welcome to Kiruna Municipality!
