Who is the Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V.? The Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V. is a cross-industry employers' association founded in 1963 under the patronage of Ludwig Erhard to bring more entrepreneurial expertise into politics and to provide concrete economic policy impulses on current political issues. As a nationwide organized entrepreneurial professional association with around 12,500 members, it sees itself as the voice of the social market economy in the spirit of Ludwig Erhard. It is the bridge between business and politics and a "participatory organization." The Wirtschaftsrat is not a party organization but is financed exclusively by the contributions of its members. The Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V. conducts dialogue with those responsible in parliaments and governments at the European, federal, and municipal levels and provides impulses for political decisions. This is done at more than 2,200 events throughout Germany and in committees staffed by entrepreneurs, scientists, and politicians. Who is our target group? The target group of the Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V. consists of renowned, high-caliber medium-sized entrepreneurs and family businesses who are guided by the ideal of the honorable merchant and advocate for the social market economy. The Wirtschaftsrat has them as members or wishes to win them as such. However, the target group also includes politicians in the European Parliament and representatives of the EU Commission, the federal government, politicians of the German Bundestag, state governments and parliaments, as well as at the municipal level, with whom members and representatives of the Wirtschaftsrat maintain close contact at all times.
