Islamic Relief Deutschland e.V.

About Islamic Relief Deutschland e.V.

Islamic Relief Deutschland is an international aid organization. It has been based in Cologne since its founding in 1996. We see ourselves as partners to the suffering and needy in the world, and equally as partners to our donors and funders in Germany. We help where acute need must be alleviated and the consequences of humanitarian disasters mitigated. In emergencies, we provide life-saving immediate measures and help people prepare for the possible occurrence of disasters. We promote integrated and sustainable development that fits into the local social, cultural, economic, and ecological conditions. In doing so, we work towards ensuring that local communities and societies can decide on their development with justice, freedom, and self-determination. The guiding principles of our actions are universal humanitarian goals: protection of human life and dignity, protection of families and children, entitlement to material security, and free intellectual and spiritual development. We act regardless of political beliefs, national or ethnic origin, gender, and religion, and without expectation of reciprocity. We set high professional standards for our work and commit to meeting these standards at all times. Not least among our partners in the community of Islamic Relief Deutschland are our full-time and volunteer employees; together, we all form Islamic Relief Deutschland. We offer interesting and meaningful tasks and expect a high willingness to grow with them. We encourage initiative, creativity, and taking responsibility, and actively promote the further development of professional skills, personal competencies, and career opportunities. We cultivate and live openness, respect, and diversity regarding origin and religious affiliation. Muslim and non-Muslim employees are equally welcome. At all levels of our workforce, we support the compatibility of professional engagement and family life with flexible structures and processes.
