The Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Curitiba (ISCMC) is a philanthropic entity, founded in 1852 to welcome and care for the neediest patients in Curitiba. It was responsible for the construction and founding of the oldest hospital in Paraná – Santa Casa de Curitiba – which has completed 142 years of activity. Currently, the Hospital is a reference in organ donation and transplantation, handling medium and high complexity cases in different medical specialties. It has 370 inpatient beds in its physical structure, as well as surgical units, hemodynamics, hemodialysis, clinical analysis laboratory, diagnostic and therapy center, and urgent and emergency care. In addition to Santa Casa, ISCMC manages Uniica - Integrated Crisis and Life Support Unit, a clinic specializing in clinical care for psychiatric patients, and also manages the Alto Maracanã Maternity Hospital, in partnership with the Colombo City Hall. In 2017, the maternity hospital reached the mark of 40,000 births and since 2008 has held the title of Baby-Friendly Hospital, for promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding. In all units, ISCMC has established a standard of medical-hospital care based on ethical and Christian values, which prioritizes humanization and quality in the assistance provided to patients.
