In 1974, Marco Brunelli's intuition became a reality with the inauguration of the first Italian hypermarket in Montebello della Battaglia, in the province of Pavia. Fifty years later, Marco Brunelli is still at the head of the company, and this continuity also applies to our values: Italian identity, popularization of quality, convenience, customer satisfaction, food safety, attention to the territory, and constant investment in employee training. Also in the same year, Finiper was founded, which would become the Group's financial holding company. In 1985, the first Italian shopping center opened in Cremona. The visionary ability of this entrepreneur fuels the virtuous cycle that leads from innovation to growth, to new research and experimentation. Twenty years later, in 2004, the hypermarket tailored for a metropolis was conceived: Iper Portello, in the center of Milan, a completely new store concept that contributed to the redevelopment of the neighborhood, receiving a special recognition from the Building Commission of the Municipality of Milan for its urbanistic and architectural quality. Growth continues, and in 2016 the 27th Iper-branded hypermarket was inaugurated in Arese, a unique excellence in terms of quantity and quality of services offered in the Milanese hinterland.
