INTERSPORT Deutschland eG, headquartered in Heilbronn, was founded over 55 years ago by sports retailers and is the largest medium-sized cooperative group in German and European sports retail. It currently comprises over 1,000 members in Germany who operate more than 1,500 specialist stores. The individual stores are organized within INTERSPORT Deutschland eG itself or its subsidiary Systempartner INTERSPORT, depending on their size and market position. With over €2.9 billion in revenue in the roughly €7.8 billion German sports equipment and sportswear market, the cooperative group has long held the top position in the industry. Approximately 20,000 employees achieve an average revenue of over €1.9 million per sales outlet across more than 935,000 square meters. INTERSPORT Deutschland eG is one of the founding members of INTERSPORT International, based in Bern, which has been the world's largest and most successful association of independent sports retailers for decades.
