The Institution de Lavigny was founded in 1906. Charles Subilia, a pastor from Vaud, was deeply affected by the tragic death of a child with epilepsy and decided to take action. Mobilizing the fortunes and authorities of the time, he created an asylum intended for patients who could not be admitted to charitable institutions, and for epileptics. A century later, the Institution employs nearly 900 staff members across several sites, and includes a school, sheltered workshops, a hospital, and accommodation facilities for people with disabilities. Rich in diverse and complementary skills, the Institution de Lavigny supports each person in their entirety: physically, psychologically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and socially, in a framework resolutely focused on the outside world, which allows for the development of autonomy, skills, social relationships, integration, and promotes the personal fulfillment of the individual. Recognized by public authorities and insurance companies that subsidize care, the Institution de Lavigny nevertheless depends on private aid, which plays a decisive role in its operation. The Institution de Lavigny is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard and the quality criteria required for Latin social institutions within the meaning of Articles 3 and 4 of the LIPPI. The hospital department is also SW!SS REHA certified.
