INOVA BH is integrating Brazil's first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the education sector, bringing quality infrastructure to approximately 25,000 students. The PPP is the result of an initiative by the Belo Horizonte City Hall (PBH) along with INOVA BH. The partnership was developed and implemented by the Municipal Secretariat of Development (SMDE) and the Municipal Secretariat of Education (SMED), through a public tender. The winning concessionaire, Odebrecht, was awarded the contract for the construction and administration of 55 school units over 20 years. The concessionaire is already responsible for services such as: maintenance of electrical and hydraulic installations, security, cleaning, environmental sustainability, and furniture procurement. With this partnership, school principals can dedicate more time to pedagogical matters, teachers will have adequate facilities for teaching, and the city hall will be able to invest in other sectors. The beneficiaries are the approximately 25,000 students in the municipal network, who are guaranteed a quality education.
