The Humanistische Vereinigung (HV; formerly HVD Bayern) is a secular community founded in 1848. It is a public law corporation, recognized as an advocacy group for non-religious people, and has approximately 2,100 members in Bavaria. The HV currently employs around 400 people (m/f/d) across all its subsidiaries. We stand for an ethics of secular humanism and are members of numerous national and international associations and umbrella organizations, in which we contribute our organizational goals and pursue them together with others. The Humanistische Vereinigung offers various events and discussion groups on historical, philosophical, and scientific topics. It accompanies people through life with naming ceremonies, humanist wedding ceremonies, youth ceremonies, eulogies, and various counseling services. Furthermore, the HV or its Humanistisches Sozialwerk Bayern gGmbH operates 21 Humanist daycare centers with more than 1,000 places. In Fürth, the Humanistische Vereinigung operates the first humanist primary school in Germany with an integrated after-school care program. In Nuremberg and Fürth, it has a permanent seat on the municipal children's and youth welfare committee. With its philoscience gGmbH, the HV is involved in science communication through further training, science education programs, public science through events, and the Science Center turmdersinne, a science education experience exhibition on the topic of senses and perception in a Nuremberg city wall tower. The student housing project "WohnGut78" of the Humanistische Vereinigung is located in the Südstadt district of Nuremberg. In the special educational needs residential group "Die 9" in Etzelwang, children and adolescents find a place of orientation and security. The Humanistische Vereinigung also sponsors the Stiftung Weltlicher Humanismus, which supports humanist services in Bavaria. The HV, together with Deutscher Humanistentag gGmbH, organizes the HumanistenTag Nuremberg.
