Hotel & Spa Wasserschloss Westerburg

About Hotel & Spa Wasserschloss Westerburg

The 4-star Superior Hotel & Spa Wasserschloss Westerburg is surrounded by an approximately 5-hectare park and is enclosed by a moat. The oldest and best-preserved moated castle in Germany, as a building on the Romanesque Road, it is one of the over 80 most important monuments in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 2000, the partially over 800-year-old walls of the Wasserschloss Westerburg have housed 57 individually furnished hotel rooms in three different categories, a restaurant, various event and conference rooms, and a wellness area. With the historic Ritterkeller, the Gräfliche Amtsstube, and the Fürsten and Spiegelsaal banquet halls, it offers various spaces for celebrations with up to 80 guests. Civil, church, and independent weddings are possible in the baroque castle chapel from 1681. Changing public events are offered year-round, such as the Medieval Feast in the historic Ritterkeller or the Westerburg Summer of Culture in the large castle courtyard – a series of open-air concerts and theater evenings with the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater. In addition to regular castle tours, individual tours can also be offered for groups of 8 or more people. The à la carte restaurant Prinzessin Marie Pauline with an adjoining south terrace on the castle moat is named after a former owner of the castle, Princess Marie Pauline, favorite sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. Like the approximately 1,200 m2 wellness area, it is open daily to day visitors without a day off. This is divided into the Galerie Spa with an indoor pool (18 x 6 x 1.35 m) with an integrated whirlpool, counter-current and massage jets, experience showers, and an indoor gallery, as well as the Romantik Spa with a Finnish sauna, organic color light sauna, heated swimming pool (6 x 4 x 1.35 m) with a waterfall shower and counter-current system, heat bench, Kneipp foot bath, and sun garden.
