Inaugurated on August 22, 1860, in Blumenau, Hospital Santo Antônio's history is associated with the economic, political, and social development of the city. The Fundação Hospitalar de Blumenau, which maintains Hospital Santo Antônio, is a private, non-profit, philanthropic foundation that partners with government spheres. It participates in programs and strategies defined by the Ministry of Health in Obstetric and Neonatal Care, Oncological Care, and Urgency and Emergency Care. More than 92% of its services are provided through the Unified Health System (SUS), characterizing the institution as a cornerstone for health in Santa Catarina. A reference in several specialties such as oncology, orthopedics, and bariatric surgery for the Itajaí Valley region, the institution performs over 250,000 services annually and offers more than 240 hospital beds (15 Adult ICU beds, 10 Neonatal ICU beds, and 10 Pediatric ICU beds), in addition to five equipped operating rooms in its Surgical Center. Since 1860, Hospital Santo Antônio has been offering the best conditions for medical professionals and collaborators, reflecting these improvements in the humanized and qualified reception, care, and treatment of its patients. It has approximately 900 employees and 200 doctors on its medical staff. A pioneer in Level I Hospital Accreditation among Hospitals serving SUS in Santa Catarina, the Hospital spared no effort and, in 2017, achieved the Full Level of Level II Hospital Accreditation, by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA-MS). It performs the role of a Regional Hospital, with proven resolution through its accreditation. Hospital Santo Antônio contributes to the provision of services in quantity, quality, and cost-effectiveness, always expanding the range of services to meet the healthcare needs of the State of Santa Catarina.
