SPDM - Associação Paulista para o Desenvolvimento da Medicina is a non-profit civil association, philanthropic in nature, recognized as being of federal, state, and municipal public utility in its headquarters, respectively by decrees nos. 57.925, of 04/03/1966, 40.103 of 05/17/1962 and 8.911, of 07/30/1970. The Association's primary guideline is its insertion into the healthcare system aimed at treating, preventing diseases, and promoting primary, secondary, and tertiary health, strengthening ties with the local community and reaffirming its social commitment to serving everyone, without discrimination. With institutional growth, SPDM is expanding its scope of action with projects, in development, in the Social Assistance and Educational areas. All this range of activities increasingly consolidates SPDM as a large philanthropic institution, seeking economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Its management is based on the corporate governance system and the high competence of its collaborators. Founded in 1933, it is currently led by an Administrative Council, elected by the Assembly of Associates, and its main objective today is the maintenance of Hospital São Paulo (HSP), a university hospital of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), as well as other hospitals, assistance centers, and related units, also seeking to develop and provide services for the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities or special needs. The Fiscal Council is responsible for analyzing the financial statements. It also counts on independent audit evaluations. Its four superintendencies - Hospital São Paulo, Affiliated Institutions, Integral Health Care Program (PAIS), and Education - are managed by highly qualified professionals with notable expertise. Thus, SPDM effectively contributes to the continuous improvement of services provided by Brazil's Unified Health System, aiming mainly to guarantee universality and opportunities for access to health, necessary for the human and social development of citizens. To this end, it combines the best technology with high-quality medical care, supported by multidisciplinary teams, composed of nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, speech therapists, biochemists, psychologists, technologists, social workers, and dentists, among others. SPDM offers job opportunities in its hospital units, with a career plan, for people with special needs. To this end, it periodically publishes advertisements recruiting these professionals in the main newspapers in São Paulo and the municipalities where its units are located. SPDM operates at the federal, state, and municipal levels, in harmony with their health and education policies, and also as a qualified social organization in several states, in the management of health services and organizations, through agreements and management contracts.
