Hero Zukunft GmbH is a German subsidiary of the Norwegian corporate group Hero Group AS. The Hero Group AS – founded by individuals with refugee backgrounds themselves – is part of the Norlandia Health & Care Group (NHC) and comprises other divisions, e.g., translation services, vocational training, and accommodation. For over 30 years, Hero Norge has operated various types of communal accommodations for refugees in Norway; since 2017, we have also operated accommodations in Germany. Currently, these include four accommodations in Berlin and one in Saxony, housing adults, families, unaccompanied minors, and individuals requiring special protection. Our vision and values of openness, equality, and professionalism are lived daily by our employees in the operation of the accommodations. We are dedicated to continuously improving our methods and processes, utilizing the well-established quality control systems from Norway. Our processes are standardized, and we are certified according to ISO 9001:2015. One of our main goals is to enable refugees to participate in social, economic, and cultural life in Berlin. To ensure this participation and thus successful integration, we incorporate the individual needs of people in accommodation, based on our values of openness, equality, and professionalism. We place great importance on needs-oriented, pedagogical work with refugees, regardless of their residency status. We treat all residents with respect, courtesy, and humanity, and are attentive to their wishes and needs. We ensure that residents can influence decisions that are significant to their living situation.
